I am Senior Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Bologna. I am editor of the journal East European Politics and editor of the book series Routledge Studies in Extremism and Democracy. I have previously served as Steering Committee chair of the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) Standing Group on Extremism and Democracy.

I hold an M.A. in Politics from the University of Sheffield and a Ph.D. in Comparative and European Politics from the University of Siena. I have been a visiting scholar at Central European University (Budapest), European University Viadrina (Frankfurt/Oder), the University of Oslo, and the European University Institute (Fiesole). Before joining the Department of Political and Social Sciences in Bologna in 2022, I was first Postdoctoral Research Fellow and then Assistant Professor at the Scuola Normale Superiore (Florence).

My research interests cover the broad areas of comparative politics and political sociology, with a particular focus on extremism, radicalism, populism, and democracy; Euroscepticism; political parties and party systems; social movements and political participation; and research design in the social sciences.

On this website you will find a list of relevant publications, scientific projects in which I am—or have been—involved, links to external resources, and some music playlists I have put together since August 2020.
